charming profile that makes the larger urban centers jealous of the infrastructure, the infinite natural
beauty, the unrivalled natural colours, the spots that demonstrate the city’s past, the fine products
of the fertile land, the hospitable people, the vivid lifestyle and the universally recognized sports and
cultural activities. Built within the shadows of mount Kalathi (the edge of the imposing mountain
Taygetos), the city of Kalamata, with a population of about 54,000 people, is the second larger city in
Peloponnese after Patras. With a history starting from the age of Homer, it is an important financial,
administrative and commercial center in the wider area and the prefecture of Messinia. On the streets,
the parks and the places of entertainment in Kalamata, all the age groups live together in harmony, as
there are numerous options for every taste all-year-round. This is due to the fact that there are many
students from the technical institutes and the universities of Peloponnese, while the city’s youthful vibe
is enhanced by the infrastructures and renovation projects, such as the cycle lanes, footpaths, the coast
road and the central square, which have changed the town’s image. Some other privileges of the city are
