From the capital of the region of Evritania , take Karpenissiou regional road ( distance : 19,7km ) until you reach the Monument Kokkalia ( to the dirt road ). It is a sepulchral column that was placed to honour the historical battle between Aetoloi and Evrytanians agaist the Gaels in 179 B . D . Take the National Road Rachis-Timfristou Domnista and you will be astonished by the beauty hidden in Krikello , with the impressive stone-paved square with the plane trees , the fountain dating from 1887 , the church of Aghios Nikolaos , the unique mansion of Kaltsas Tsiounis , the picturesque taverns and the peaceful locals . Domnista village that looks like a movie setting , is the next stop of the route and has a legendary past , as this is where the Greek hero G . Karaiskakis found shelter in 1824 . Another important chapter of the history of the village is the start of the armed battle against the Germans , under the authority of Aris Velouchiotis , the leader of the Greek People ’ s Liberation Army in 1942 . It is worth visiting the relative monument , as well as the Folklore Museum . Don ’ t miss to make a stop to the chapel of Prophet Elias . At an altitude of 1,250 meters , on the foothills of Sarandena , there are Stavli , just 9km from Domnista , offering a breathtaking view , and the church of Aghios Charalamos to pray and take a breather . Within striking distance from the village , you will meet Abliani , another wonderful settlement , with the stone church of Aghia Paraskevi standing majestically on the main square of the village .
