In striking distance from Karpenissi , through Karpenissi-Proussos provincial Road , Gorianades are no exception of the rule in Evritania : Raging nature covered in spruce and dreamy views . Ιt has an excellent tourism organisation , with guest houses and restaurants , just like Korischades , only 5 km from the capital of the region , which are historically connected with the National War of Defense ( the elementary school has been transformed into a Museum of National Defense ). Next stop is Voutiro , a lovely settlement with stone houses and adorable view . Nostimo ( which means “ tasty ”), 11,3km from Karpenissi , will impress you with its dense fir forest , gazing Kaliakouda with the crystal running water , a water mill and a bridge . After 9 km , Mikro Chorio , with the settlements Palio Mikro Chorio and Neo Mikro Chorio , will welcome you , where you can cool yourself at one of its 6 fountains or visit the Folklore Museum , built in Palio Mikro Chorio to preserve the historical heritage of the place . Its neighbouring village , Megalo Chorio , is a tiny state that has almost everything : choices for food , accommodation and shopping , with picturesque alleys , mansions and traditional houses . Gavros , located at short distance , was built at the foot of Megalo Chorio and is a heaven with taverns , rooms to stay and hotels and Karpenissiotis river as the extra bonus . After a while , you will find Karitsa , with the many walnut trees , the gorge of Vothonas ( very popular among canoying lovers ) and the single-arched bridge . Within a short distance from Karitsa ( 11.7 km ), you will find Dermati , located in the lower part of the National Road of Karpenissi-Proussos- Kallithea . Head to the nearby scenic Chelidona village before you reach your final destination , Proussos , one of the most popular destinations in the region with the traditional settlement and the fairy-tale monastery . Built on a steep rock in 829-842 , it attracts thousands of pilgrims .
