K arpenissi – M yriki – A gios N ikolaos – K rikello – D omnista – S tavloi – A mbliani –
M esokomi – R οska – P siana
At a distance of just 8,4 km (about 15’) from Karpenissi we meet (through the Ring
Road of Karpenissi) beautiful Myriki, with an unparalleled view. Let your gaze get lost
inside the beauty of the place. Returning back to the provincial street, cover another
10 km (about 20’), where every turn of the road reveals a new world. Stop at Aghios
Nikolaos, built like an amphitheater on Neraidovouni (“Fairy Mountain”). All these red
roofs will make you think you are in a Swiss village! Returning back to the provincial
street continue towards Krikello, which is built at an altitude of 1,120 m, on the eastern
side of mount Kaliakouda (“Jackdaw”), and is “given life” by the source of Krikelliotis
river. Next is Domnista, which you will meet after 8.8 km (about 15’). In the days of the
Struggle against the Ottoman Rule, the Evrytanian rebels called it the “Saint Lavra of
Resistance”! Nine km (about 9’) away from this historical village, you will meet Stavloi,
a picturesque mountainous village among fir and plane trees. According to the legend,
there were the palace and the stables (“stavloi”) of mythical king Evrytos, after whom
Evrytania was named. The next must stop is Ambliani village , 9.9 km away (about 9’). It
took its name from its many “amblades” (small water springs). Mesokomi of Evrytania is
another must stop in your tour through the Evrytanian land. It is in the southern side of
the prefecture, near the border with Aitoloakarnania, about 1 h and 15’ from Domnista.
In the village’s square there is a supercentenarian plane tree, that is considered as one
of the oldest trees in Greece, the so-called “Plane of Ternos”. A while before the end
of your route, visit Roska village. It is the end of Vardousia, about 43’ from Domnista.
Alternatively, end up in the right bed of Krikelliotis river, in beautiful Psiana, in a unique
environment of rich vegetation and unparalleled beauty.
D omnitsa – S kopia – A ghios C haralambos – K astanoula – R oska ( panta vrechei )
Alternatively, you can start from Domnitsa and follow another wonderful route to Ros-
ka village. From Domnista you will first meet, after 6.3 km, the beautiful village Skopia
(until 1928 it was named Tsekleista or Tsiklista). From there, after 4.6 km (about 16’),
you will meet the mountain village Aghios Charalambos. Make a stop there, to admire
the village’s sight, the small church of Panagia Prousiotissa, in the northwest (celebrates
in 08/23). From there, after almost 4 km, you will get to Kastanoula, a mountain settle-
ment at an altitude of 860 meters, on the northern slopes of Platani mountain. From
there Roska is 7.5 km away, built at an altitude of 1,000 meters, between Panaitoliko
and Oxya mountain.
