Start from Karpenissi for another beautiful
route, this one to villages of Agrafa. Take
the road to Krenti (about 1 hour, 40.9 km),
you meet Kalesmeno village, Nea Viniani
(there stop at Viniani -about 54’. 36.3 km
from Karpenissi), and then at Kerasochori
(about 33’, 16.5 km from Viniani and only
3.1 km to Krenti village). At Krenti, there
is a sign that leads to Varvariada. Arrive
to Varvaraia from where it is worth going
north to the village of Monastiraki as well
as to village of Marathos. From Varvaria-
da village take a beautiful route to Agrafa
village, a mountain village at an altitude
of 850m., on the slopes of Agrafa. Also,
from Varvariada and bypassing the village
of Agrafa, going to Vragiana village, on
the road you will meet the Epiniana on the
slopes of Fteri. It is definitely worth
continuing from Epiniana for almost 5
km north to see in person one of the most
beautiful religious monuments of Agrafa,
the Monastery of Stana, standing literary
hidden in a cave of the steep rock, protect-
ed by tall trees, in a unique landscape. If
you continue north from there for about
20’ (7 km), you will get to Tridentro, on
the right bank of Agrafiotis river, with its
natural monument, the plane-house. After
about 7 km, you will get to Trovato. Sur-
rounded by the enchanting tops of Agrafa,
Trovato consists of four picturesque set-
tlements that follow the natural terrain.
Finally, you can head , to the provincial
road of Vragiana, to get to Vragiana (6.7
km, about 22’), a village known, among
other reasons, for its offer in Scholarship
during the Turkish Rule.
