PONTIKONISSI The most popular symbol of the island floats on Chalkiopoulos lagoon, just 4 km south of the town. According to a legend, it was the ship of the Phaeacians that carried Odysseus, and was transformed into a rock by wrathful Poseidon. Today, the only thing you can find is the tiny chapel of Pantokrator and the well, where the visitors toss coins to fulfill their deepest wishes! Right next to Pontikonissi, you can see the chapel of Panaghia Vlacherna on an islet connected to the mainland through a narrow bridge. TIP: Kanoni is the best place to take photos! 95
