ΦΙΛΑΡΜΟΝΙΚΈΣ
Παίζουν καθοριστικό ρόλο στα µουσικά δρώµενα, αλλά και τις σηµαντικές εκδηλώσεις
του νησιού. Η ίδρυση της πρώτης Φιλαρµονικής, γνωστή ως «Παλαιά»,
έγινε µε αφορµή την άρνηση των Άγγλων να συνοδεύουν µουσικά τις ορθόδοξες
λιτανείες (1840). Στο νησί υπάρχουν 18, από τις οποίες 4 δραστηριοποιούνται στα
όρια του Δήµου Κερκυραίων, µε στόχο την ανάδειξη της Κερκυραϊκής µουσικής
παράδοσης και παιδείας: H Παλαιά Φιλαρµονική, η Φιλαρµονική Εταιρία «Μάντζαρος»,
η Φιλαρµονική Ένωση «Ο Καποδίστριας» και η Φιλαρµονική Κοντοκαλίου οι
οποίες πρωταγωνιστούν κατά τη διάρκεια του Πάσχα και σε θρησκευτικές λιτανείες!

PHILHARMONICS
The Philharmonic orchestras play a major role
in the musical happenings and all the important
events taking place in Corfu. The foundation of
the first Philharmonic, known as “Palea” (the Old
one), was made on the occasion of the British
refusal to accompany with musical instruments
the orthodox processions (1840). On the island
there are 18 Philharmonics, of which 4 are active
within the boundaries of the Municipality of
Corfu, aiming at the promotion and development
of the local music tradition and education: The
Old Philharmonic Orchestra, the “Mantzaros”, the
Kapodistrias and the Philharmonic of Kontokali,
which have a leading role during Easter as well as
in other cultural and religious events.
