H ΠΑΡΑΛΊΑ ΤΗΣ ΧΙΛΙΑΔΟΎΣ | CHILIADOU BEACH
Από τις πιο γνωστές και όμορφες παραλίες του νομού. Βρίσκεται στην κεντρική Εύβοια
και είναι ιδιαίτερα εκτενής! Κάποτε η Χιλιαδού ήταν hidden gem των ντόπιων. Έφτανες με
δυσκολία και δεν υπήρχε ούτε νερό αν δεν είχες προνοήσει να πάρεις μαζί. Η εποχή της
αθωότητας πέρασε και η Χιλιαδού γύρισε σελίδα. Πλέον είναι ιδιαίτερα δημοφιλής εντός
και εκτός νομού με πληθώρα επισκεπτών τους καλοκαιρινούς μήνες και φυσικά πολλές
επιχειρήσεις εστίασης και διαμονής γύρω της. Παραμένει σαφώς εξίσου όμορφη, με
καταγάλανα, βαθιά νερά και χρυσή άμμο! Από την Χαλκίδα απέχει 60χλμ. και θα φτάσετε
μέσω μιας πανέμορφης ορεινής διαδρομής. Σημ. Το όνομα της η Χιλιαδού το πήρε από
το ομώνυμο ιστορικό εκκλησάκι που βρίσκεται στη ρεματιά που κατεβαίνει προς την
παραλία. Ο θρύλος λέει πως ονομάζεται έτσι γιατί ήταν η χιλιοστή εκκλησία που έχτισε
η Βυζαντινή Αυτοκράτειρα Θεοδώρα για να γιορτάσει τη νίκη εναντίον των Πειρατών,
καθώς η Χιλιαδού ήταν ένα από τα βασικά ορμητήρια των πειρατών του Αιγαίου.

One of the most popular and beautiful
beaches of the region. It is located
in the center of Evia and the beach
is particularly wide. Once Chiliadou
was a hidden gem for locals. The
access was difficult and there was no
drinking water available, unless one has
prepared and brought together. The
years of innocence have passed and
Chiliadou turned a new page. Today,
it is particularly popular inside and
outside the region, with a plethora of
visitors during the summer months,
and, of course, a lot of food and
accommodation businesses around.
It remains equally beautiful, with deep
blue, deep waters and golden sand! It is
60 km away from Chalkida and you will
get there through a wonderful mountain
trail. Note: The beach was named after
the historic chapel called “Chiliadou”,
located in the creek leading to the
beach. According to the legend, it took
this name by the fact that it was the
thousandth church (“chilia” means “one
thousand”) built by the Theodora, the
Empress of the Byzantium, in order to
celebrate the victory against the Pirates,
as Chiliadou was one of the main base
of the pirates in the Aegean sea.
