The first thing a visitor does in Chalkida is a walk on the promenade! This is
the most central part and the landmark in the town, perfect for strolling, with
amazing view of the sea, the old bridge, Karababa Fortress on the opposite side
of the town, and, of course, the “crazy waters”, as this is where you can watch
their unsteady flow! The beach features a great variety of places to enjoy a
coffee, a drink or a meal, some of them good, some of them even better... Your
walk on the beach will start from the Old Bridge and will end to the platform
(“Kripidoma”), where there is also the Red House and The House with the Statues.
Highlight: On the beach rises the Town hall of Chalkida. It is a wonderful
neoclassic building decorated with elements of the baroque style and an Italian
elegance that will impress you.
