γραφικά σοκάκια, τουριστικά µαγαζιά, την πολυφωτογραφηµένη συνοικία Αναφιώτικα,
την πολύβουη Αδριανού, και όλα αυτά κάτω από τη σκιά του Ιερού Βράχου της
Ακρόπολης. Από την άλλη, το Μοναστηράκι επιφυλάσσει τις δικές του εκπλήξεις µε
αφετηρία την πλατεία Αβησσυνίας, και µας γοητεύει µε τα παλαιοπωλεία, τις υπαίθριες
αγορές, και µνηµεία τεράστιου ιστορικού ενδιαφέροντος, όπως η Βιβλιοθήκη του
Αδριανού, ο Πύργος των Ανέµων και η Ρωµαϊκή Αγορά.
Two neighbouring districts inseperably linked to the capital’s history that create the
magic of old Athens offering an unforgettable walk! From one side, Plaka, right between
Acropolis, Syntagma square and Monastiraki square, is one of Europe’s oldest
districts with a history beginning over 3.500 years ago! Ancient ruins and byzantine
churches blend with majestic, renovated neoclassical houses with blooming yards,
mazy, picturesque alleys, tourist shops, the multi photographed neighborhood of
Anafiotika, the noisy Adrianos street, and all these under the shadow of the Sacred
Rock of Acropolis. On the other side, Monastiraki has its own surprises in store for us,
starting at the central Avissinia square, and charms us with the antique shops, the flea
markets, and the historical monuments of enormous interest such as Adrianos Library,
the Tower of the Winds and the Roman Forum.
