Apart from being a picturesque village built at an altitude of 1200 meters within a fir forest , and the biggest village in the east of Argithea ,
Petrilo is also famous for the church of the Assumption of the Mother of God . This church is associated with the history of the miraculous icon that is inside it . Due to its great importance for the Orthodox belief , twice a year the icon is transferred to
Fanari in Karditsa as a pilgrimage .
