STEFANIADA Within short distance from the Monastery of Spilia , religious hub of Argithea , there is Stefaniada village , with the lake of the same name located nearby , built in an idyllic location within a fir forest . The name of the village existed before the Ottoman rule , during which it was developed and populated significantly . This is proved by the large number of monasteries , the murals and the many old churches and the fountains with the inscriptions , while the 10 watermills were also of major importance . Stefaniada consists of Aetochori ( formerly named “ Markelesi ”), Romia and Marathos III settlements . Just like in the entire Argithea , in Stefaniada there were many churches and chapels . The main temple of the village is the Assumption of the Mother of God ( Theotokos ) dating from 1892 . Between Stefaniada and Koubouriana there is the historical monastery of Kosti . The stone fountain in the centre of the village is a typical example of the architecture of the village . It should be noted that in January 1963 , after a rainfall that lasted many days , a big landslide of Stichios slope took place , resulting in the creation of Lake Stefaniada , the most recent natural lake in Greece .
