waters of the river are ideal for kayak . Head south along Achelous , before the stone bridge that leads to the villages of Arta . You will find a junction , where if you turn left , the road leads to a part of well-preserved dirt road in East Argitea .. it Is the meeting point of the two roads ( from Mouzaki through the West and East Argithea ). Heading south , after a few kilometers you will meet the first village of South Argithea , Marathos ( Arachovitsa ). There , you will see Achelous from close distance and make pleasant walks at the forested hills . Leaving Marathos , with south direction , you will arrive at the Vragiana village in South Argithea , with the elementary school of great architecture and history and the Monastery of Metamorfosi ( Transfiguration ), built within a beautiful environment with a dense forest . Inside the village , you will admire the Temple of St . Dimitrios , built in 1891 by craftsmen from Tzoumerka , Epirus . Panaghia Episkopi is another must-visit place . From Vragiana , you can head west to Noechoria that you will meet after a few minutes to live a unique experience : the passage of Achelous with a man-made funicular (“ perataria ”)! Within short distance is the settlement of Gribiana , at an altitude of 440 meters . Katafylli , within an equally picturesque landscape is on the other side mount Mirmitzala . Here , the beautiful single-arched bridge of the village , built in 1900 according to moder standards is defnitely worth visiting . Following the road , you will arrive at Argyri , the most isolated village from the seat of the Regional Unit of Karditsa . Among the highlights of Argyri , is a beautiful square , two well-preserved watermills that remain picturesque and the church of Prophet Eluas , built inside the rock .
