CASTLE Built by the Venetians in the 15th century with many unique features, like the fact that it isn’t located on a high and imposing place. It was constructed by the Venetian lord Giovanni Loredano, when he decided to marry Maria Sommaropa, who had Antiparos as a dowry. In its initial form, the complex was set up around a square yard, in the center of which rose the main tower. Today, from this tower only the base is saved. Around used to be 24 prestigious two-storey residences, with a continuous tall outside wall, without windows or balconies. The access used to be made from the inner yard, while there was only one exit that closed the Gothic gate that is preserved until this day. A special feature of the castle are the bats, appearing in the sunset and flying around the tower. 9
