The Gold Book of Antiparos | Page 49

The island complex of Antiparos consists of a plethora of small islets and skerries. In the photo is shown the blue lagoon in Tigani islet between Paros and Antiparos islands, with transparent turquoise waters. How- ever, the most popular, yet tiny island (less than 500 sq.meters long) around Antiparos is Saliagas, of inestimable archaeological value and a significant natural beauty. According to archaeological findings, the islet hosted the most ancient settlement in the Cycladic island, about 5.300 years ago. After excavations, the civilisation of Saliagos was discovered, dating from the neolithic period. 49
