Technology Leapfrogging

Technology leapfrogging is a way developing countries to overcome barriers that typically prevent technological development. The way this happens is that a country will go from having little to no technological service to having state of the art technologies such as phones, computers, etc.

Leapfrog Locations

Technology leapfrogging is mainly used in smaller and poorer countries. Africa is the main continent that does this. Although, it happens with other developing countries that are still on the edge. The reason people leapfrog with technology is due to no access to things like internet, computers and more.

Lagging Behind

They also can’t end up getting the right technology at the right time, and it is hard for them to get money to do that. So they wait till they can save enough money for it. They struggle with this because they don’t have many spots to put power lines and just things to connect with other countries.

Pros and Cons

There are many pros and cons to this. here are some pros to technology leapfrogging. A pro is that they get the updated devices such as phones before other countries. But a con is that they skip other technology, and they only have enough to spend on one thing at a time.
