While only 19% of victims are trafficked for sex, 66% of the global profits from human trafficking is sexual exploitation. On average, sex slaves make 6 times as much as other trafficked victims ($100,000 vs. $21,800). according to the Organization for Security and Co‑operation in Europe (OSCE.)
Sex slaves create a 100% to 1000% return on investment where enslaved labor returns only a 50% profit.
One trafficker with four victims earned $18,148 per month, and another reported earning $295,786 in 14 months with three women.
Slavery Saves Costs
An estimated 24.9 million victims are trapped in modern-day slavery. Of these, 16 million (64%) were exploited for labor, and 4.1 million (17%) were exploited in state-imposed forced labor.
For example, in Germany, a Chinese kitchen worker made $808 for a 78-hour workweek when German law requires hat a cook be paid at least $2,588 for a 39-hour workweek.
Forced labor victims work in construction, manufactur-ing, mining, or hospitality these categories of slave labor make up about 7.5 million (47%) of profit.
Human trafficking is a worldwide epidemic. In 2014, Human trafficking earns profits approximately $150 billion a year for traffickers. According to Justice for youth statistics, human trafficking has killed an estimated 30,000 people each year.
