This city is known for its Bloods and Crips feud. I look at this city, and I see a boom or bust type of vibe. You see all these famous musicians rising out of this city, but you also see the people you lost, the people who wander the streets, begging for change to just get high. It’s sad to say, but it is true.
People see their friends and family crumbling because they decided to try something new.
Compton is not the only city with these problems. St. Louis, Missouri, is well known for their baseball and beer, but they are also known as the most dangerous place to live. They’ve been known to be the world’s 15th most dangerous place to live.
St. Louis is home to the Giordano Crime Family. They are an American Mafia Family. This family is known for many activities known for a lot of illegal activities, but in my eyes, their biggest crime is drug trafficking. They started all of this in the 1890’s. They are one of the biggest reasons why St. Louis is one of the most dangerous cities to live in.
These world-wide drug cartels get their power within the borders of the US through these gangs. So far, the US government has been unable to stop the global flow of drugs to gangs. There seems to be no end in sight.
Cartel’s importing drugs into the United States is not a new surprise. It’s been happening for decades. America has the Bloods, Crips, Latin Kings, Barrio Aztecs and many more gangs. The gangs have been talking to other countries and selling or buying drugs in exchange for money or drugs. One of the biggest drug lords to be caught to this date is El Chapo. El Chapo ran the biggest cartel known to date. With with his arrest in 2016, his cartel seems to keep on going strong.
Many cities across the US feel the effects of these drug cartels. A city with a well-known gang problems with gangs and drugs is Compton, California. It is a city (a couple of minutes away from Los Angeles) where you will see needle’s laid on the streets and homeless people walking the streets, tweaked out off drugs. This city is not new to this, it’s been like this since the city was created the residents are eager to leave.
"I am who I am.
I like what I like.
I do what I want.
It's my life, not
yours."
- Joaquin Archivaldo (El Chapo) Guzman Loera
