SPOTLIGHT ON NORTHERN EUROPE: NORWAY - A NON-EU DESTINATION WITHIN EUROPE Carol Akporiaye; INN, Oslo Chamber of Commerce RICH WITH NATURAL BEAUTY AND RESOURCES Stretching along the North-West peninsula of Scandinavia, Norway offers some of the most dramatic landscapes in Europe. With its rugged coastline touching the North Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and the Barents Sea, nature has always played an important role in the culture and progression of the nation. Well known for its high standard of living and the great work-life balance of its population, it is an excellent location for expatriates considering a change and a stable place to raise a family. Not surprisingly, for many years, Norway was voted the best place to live in the world. (UN Development Report 2015) From its breathtaking fjords to its spectacular mountains, the Norwegian terrain is known for its dramatic beauty. The lovely beaches on the southern coast, the remote, yet stunning valleys inland and the midnight sun in the North have combined to develop a nation that has an affinity and understanding of the surrounding nature. Weather is not a hindrance to a Norwegian. Winter is the time to enjoy skiing or skating in the crisp, cool temperatures. The summer encourages sailing, walking, bathing and embracing warmer times.
