Apart from the regular changes to minimum salary requirements , application fees and quota levels , 2016 saw a continuation of the recent trends of online immigration systems and expanding visa waiver programs .
The EU referendum in the United Kingdom and the presidential election in the United States raised questions about possible major immigration rule changes on both sides of the Atlantic , but as of December 2016 nothing concrete has been announced .
European Union member states , meanwhile , have been busy transposing recent EU directives on intra-company transfers and posted workers into their national legislation , and debating further changes to the posted worker rules and the Blue Card scheme .

Sophy is the founder of Peregrine Immigration Management Ltd , which was acquired by CIBT in 2015 . Peregrine created and continues to develop the software products ‘ Immiguru ’ ( a global immigration database with information on over 1000 immigration processes to around 100 countries ) and ‘ Immigo ’ ( global immigration case management software ) and also offers global immigration expert consulting and project management .
Currently based in the UK , Sophy has previously lived in Russia , China , Japan and Spain . She graduated from Cambridge University in the UK with an MA ( Cantab .) in Oriental Studies ( Chinese ) in 2000 . She has been working in the global immigration industry for around 13 years , starting as an Assistant Immigration Consultant for a well-known global service provider in 2003 . She worked her way up to Director of Consulting & Compliance there , and then left to take the position of Director of Knowledge Management at a competing firm , before founding Peregrine in 2011 .
