7. Being a successful and powerful serial entrepreneur, what is your advice to upcoming entrepreneur regarding how to market their businesses or their brand?
I can't speak for any other industry field, BUT I can speak for the music industry field as I've been doing it for 13yrs. Two things I always come across when I see newcomers wanting to step foot in the game is this:
(1) A lot tend to doubt themselves before even considering what they have to offer. I constant hear ALL THE TIM. The newcomers make comments like "What if my voice is sh***? What if the crowd won't dig it? What if I never make a mark on the scene? What if? What if?"
(2) Some (Not ALL) but a BIG handful have too much of an ego that goes way over their head (especially in Today's ERA with this whole social media business). They have an entitlement mentality. They have "I deserve" way of approaching the scene more than "Work hard and earn
your spot" mentality. It is arrogance which causes a lot of experienced musicians (Including myself) not to work with them.
There is a need for an increased level or RESPECT when stepping foot in the music game and especially the hip-hop game which sadly to be quite frank with the readers, the newcomers are starting to lack "Let's be real."
Those TWO steps are the best way to set your downfall before you even start this career in music. You want people to admire you, love you, respect you and YOUR MUSIC, then be humble, respectful, inspiring and treating every opportunity like it’s the greatest opportunity ever.
8. What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working?
Hitting the court and playing basketball. I can be nasty on the court ;)
Any Australian readers seeing this hit me up sometime for a game
9. What do you want to make sure you do before you die?
a) Visiting The Birth Place of Hip Hop (1520 Sedgwick Avenue South Bronx NY)
The Birth Place that started this culture from day one that I love too much that is my EVERYTHING
b) Performing my tracks on the stage for millions of people. I can't express the feeling or emotion and happiness from achieving this goal.
10. How do you want people to remember you?
Just that I represent the culture of Hip Hop to its fullest and it was the man I am and which everyone knew me for.
11. What are some causes you care about?
I am passionate about assisting newcomers. The cause that I care about is called MMAD - Musicians Making A Difference/Changing Lives Through Music

12. What’s a goal you have for yourself that you want to accomplish in the next year?
I want to get back into the studio ASAP. My 2nd album (Understand Me) was released in 2013, so it's been 5yrs since I've released an album. I have been slacking on working on a new album because I've been doing a lot of acting. But I miss music so much especially the high/adrenaline of crafting new work, so I've got a ton of work to do. At the moment I have a ton of beats on my iPod most are other peoples instrumentals even from the likes of Greek Producer "Yanni." But when I sit back and listen to them, I can hear them sounding like masterpieces, so when the time comes, I'll figure out how to use them.
comes, I'll figure out how to use them.
Also for my 3rd album, I want to do a two disk.
I Cant wait. It's going to be one hell of a rollercoaster....2018 fans will definitely hear something once again from Mugzy ;)
