Herrington asked the star, who has sold over 30 million albums worldwide, how she was able to progress from being homeless and actually living out of her car to building a brand around herself that has touched so many people and
covers so many different areas. Jewel, clearly touched by the insightful question that could encourage other women to follow in her footsteps, responded by explaining that her biggest obstacle was that she had a different kind of style of music than what was in the market place at the time, but through perseverance and being able to demonstrate to the industry that there was a demand for her type of music she was able to achieve her dreams, demonstrating the importance of staying true to who you are.
