2. What is your WHY? And why?
A, To be very honest it’s just what I am and what is in my blood. I have been driven from childhood. I must say I knew from an early age that I was not going to get anything easy
coming my way. I was also a dreamer, so I knew I had to fight to get there. While I'm sure my mom loved me and did a great job at raising me, nothing would just be given so I had to work for it. When you come from Caribbean parents you know hard work is something we are not scared of. After meeting my uncle and seeing all the amazing work he had done I wanted
to do something special too. I didn't know what that was, but I knew I had some serious blood running through my veins. After getting diagnosed with diabetes I think I
really found my why - it was to touch others and live for others. I have been fighting for others ever since.
3. Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What do you want to be when you grow up?
A, I don't think I wanted to be anything big back then, I was just enjoying being a kid. I think that’s something that’s missing even now. Life has become so complicated, even for kids, that we forget how to just let them enjoy life. I grew up in a great town called Elmont NYC and we played like kids should and got into kid things.
I was inspired by my uncle the late reggae singer Bob Marley at an early age. I think I met him when I was about six and went to his funeral when I was about seven years old. I do recall being inspired to something great but didn't know what that was or could be at that
age.
4. Who is someone you admire, and why?
A, I admire many people. I may admire the single father who’s doing all he can to take care of his child with very little; I may admire the person living with pain who seems to smile and fights to keep a positive attitude when most of us would break. I admire so many people each day and learn from so many each day. Of course I look at people who may be well known and admire some of their strong words and passions, but each day I find someone new to admire and to look at and I aspire to be what they are and to have some of those amazing traits that make them very special.
