7. Being a successful and powerful serial entrepreneur, what is your advice to upcoming entrepreneur regarding how to market their businesses or their brand?
NETWORK YOUR ASS OFF. Networking is the biggest thing and truly the building of relationships in business is everything. There are opportunities everywhere! Be open to them – and don’t think because it’s an unpaid gig that you shouldn’t do it – some of the best opportunities and income in my business comes from those unpaid gigs.
Building relationships with those in your industry and those connected to your industry is absolutely essential. Be genuine. Connect. Network. Collaborate. This is where the real wealth is.
You need to be talking about your business or brand like it’s already happened, not that you’re in start-up mode. People will believe in you if you believe in yourself, so you have to be strong and confident in what you’re presenting to the world.
Market with STORIES – it is your story about a client, an experience, a service or a product that will really connect with people. Don’t try and be too fancy – be honest and open and share the story behind the product or service. Make it funny and interesting. Be brand-consistent and be really clear on who you are, what you bring to the table and what your brand/business is there to do.
8. What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working?
I love spending time with my partner, Kelly. She runs the business with me (she does all the boring things and I do all the fun things – it’s a match made in heaven and suits our personalities to a tee!). It’s great spending time with her that doesn’t involve all things makeup. I adore hosting dinner parties (I’m a pretty good cook, actually) and playing board games with my friends, hanging out with my bestie and talking deep and meaningful spiritual things. I love going to live theatre and seeing musicals (it’s a major passion). I used to read a lot. ! am time for that now too. And of course, nothing like a ‘Netflix & Chill’ night. Also hanging out with our five cats is hilarious and joyful.
