The Two Angles of Ourselves — Which One is the Priority?

What were your first impressions after liberation from self-isolation, when we were finally able to switch from zoom chats, social media and messengers and meet in person? For me, the first

surprise was how so many of us grew in size, literally. As for those who posted on facebook and instagram what a great opportunity it was to improve their shape — they are definitely not in my circle. I’m no exception, I became bigger, as well. Despite the perfunctory compliments from friends and associates, I don’t feel good about myself. Positive thoughts aside, it’s still difficult to convince me.

Recently, I read about an interesting experiment conducted by the advertising department of a

cosmetic firm. The participants included three women, three men and one professional artist. The

women and men were selected randomly and did not know each other. The artist’s reputation was

such that he was a genius who could re-create portraits with just a brief description. Participants

had completely different tasks. Women had to look at themselves in the mirror and while on the phone, describe their appearance to the artist who was sitting in the next room, painting the verbal descriptions of each woman. Men were separated from the women in another room with
