Today is a gift. As a survivor, my appreciation of "today" and the "present" is genuine. With my appreciation and understanding of how critically important each day is, comes a responsibility to do something with this understanding. Every day I believe in making it count. Yet, how does one person make a day count? "Baby steps."
The idea of baby steps is my way of dealing with my "elephant in my room." What is the "elephant in the room?" This phrase has come to represent that enormous topic, question, or controversial issue that is obvious, and many know about; however, to speak about it, it may be embarrassing, uncomfortable, or even dangerous. Yet, my elephant is so much more to me.
