groups prove this. There are groups on Facebook that have hundreds of thousands of people in them even under fairly specialised topics but the amount of posting being put into those groups makes it impossible to build a relationship with its members.

This means even the groups owners can’t effectively make offers and sell to their groups members.

Today it’s about getting properly involved in conversation threads online, messaging one person at a time, getting to know them personally and then offering to add them to a very specialised group that solves the problem they are having.

It’s then possible in a small group to deeply connect and build real relationships with each member with live video and text. It’s possible to demonstrate that you care about each of your group members, to share your mission and to connect with each member deeply by sharing the struggles you’ve overcome.

This doesn’t build buyers, this builds fans and it’s fans who then become buyers.

To succeed today it’s about making selling be a secondary motive and connecting as the primary focus but not just to sell in the future as people begin to sense this. It’s about genuinely giving knowledge, giving time and giving support away to that small group just because you care.

Imagine what happens when you have just 100 people on your email list or just 100 people in your Facebook group and you continually give good knowledge and your time away to them for free without any in return? DW
