Foreword
She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:
“Winter is dead.”
–A.A. Milne, When We Were Very Young
For some reason, the winter seemed to last forever this year. It was like slowly
trudging through a dark and incredibly cold nightmare.
But that yellow flower is right — winter is dead and spring has finally arrived to
take its rightful place!
You might not be surprised to hear that spring is my favourite season. I’m all
about the newness and rebirth: watching living things emerge from the darkness
and reach for the light. In this issue, you’ll find some reflections of that theme,
sometimes funny, sometimes introspective, sometimes stark, and sometimes so
intense you won’t realize you’re holding your breath until you exhale.
Whether or not this is your season, I hope you enjoy our Spring 2015 issue!
And if you need me, I’ll be in my garden.
Happy Spring!
