DJI Osmo Mobile 2 Review:
“Creative cinematography in the palm of your hand”

DJI is known as one of the top companies in producing drones
for consumers and video professionals. However, they also
took on the mobile phone gimbal market back in 2016 with the
Osmo Mobile, now in 2018 the Osmo Mobile 2 is available and
we were able to put it through its paces.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 2 provides creative cinematography
in the palm of your hand via its 3-axis gimbal which delivers
buttery-smooth footage from your mobile phone. It does
this via placing your phone in to the gimbal, making sure it
is balanced correctly and then connecting your phone via
Bluetooth to the official DJI GO app, which is available for both
Android and iOS users and gives the user some very impressive
features. These features consist of Timelapse, Motionlapse,
Hyperlapse, Slow-mo and Zoom control as well as general
stabilised footage.
With the Timelapse feature I found it to be stable, with no
shaky frames and kept the foreground subject in focus,
delivering a beautifully smooth moving background for the
perfect Timelapse. Motionlapse is a very clever invention, it
takes the same principles from a normal Timelape and as its
suggests adds a degree of motion to the final creation. You are
able to do this via the very user-friendly menu within DJI GO
and you simply pick your start point and end point, select how
long you would like the Motionlapse to be, click start and the
let software and Osmo Mobile 2 do all the work for you. This is
an amazing feature and I’m sure many creatives out there will
produce some fantastic results.
