The Game Fair have announced an ambitious plan of new
experiential attractions that will delight the crowds – including
the installation of the world’s largest show garden ever
attempted – brought to life by leading educational institution
Capel Manor College, of which Lady Salisbury of Hatfield
House is Patron.
Capel Manor College is a leading education provider for
those interested in plants, animals, flowers, trees and the
environment, offering apprenticeships in London for those
looking to work and contribute to the rural economy and
urban regeneration.
The ‘Game Fair Gardens’, sponsored by Investment
Management Company Charles Stanley and designed by Capel
Manor’s Royal Horticultural Society gold medallists, will create
an immersive and interactive experience, telling the story of
the countryside, estates, country gardens, traditional practices
and innovations through a number of themed gardens. Visitors
can expect kitchen gardens, traditional crafts, art, sculpture
and superb design at Hatfield House, which already has an
international reputation among gardening enthusiasts. A stage
at the centre of The Game Fair Gardens will also host Q&As,
demos and debates.
The show garden will be over 1 acre in size and will be built
from scratch in just 90 days, by the students and staff from
Capel Manor College. The garden will have 5,000 plants and
trees, 400 roses, 500 m2 of turf and even 20 metres of dry-stone
wall. With over 120,000 visitors expected to attend Hatfield
House, the garden will be a world record spectacle.
Lady Salisbury, who is Patron of Capel Manor College, said: “It
is wonderful that this year The Game Fair is encouraging our
apprentices and students to use their skills and knowledge to
create a spectacular garden at Hatfield. As patron of the college,
specialising in land-based subjects across London, I know this
RHS award-winning team will provide inspiration to gardeners
and will show with a good design, what can be grown. Seeing
what people can do is always a pleasure as well as providing a
vital contribution to our green open spaces.”
Entrance to the Game Fair Gardens is included with the
standard Game Fair entry ticket and VIP packages. The Game
Fair have also teamed up with partners Capel Manor College
and Hatfield House to offer an unrivalled opportunity to visit

with the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO).
AITO will be bringing a pavilion of companies including,
Cedarberg Travel, Tribes Travel, Sunvil, Discover the World,
2By2 Holidays, Naturetrek, Geodyssey, Kirker Holidays, The
Cultural Experience and AITO HQ, with many more to be

and will bring together the adventure travel world of adventure
sports and exotic locations, all in one place.
For an ever-growing audience with an increased appetite for
adventure and travel, the new pavilion hopes to broaden the
offering for The Game Fair’s visitors. James Gower, Managing
Director of The Game Fair said, “The Game Fair have a track
record for successfully delivering new attractions to broaden
the appeal of this iconic show each year. The Game Fair visitor
has a love of the outdoors and the new ‘Travel and Destination’
area is the natural progression. Living in an increasingly global
society, exhibitors will showcase the best of what the world has
to offer in adventure travel – from the Bahama's Tourist Office
to tailor made Safaris in South Africa and saltwater fly fishing.
He continued, “Nothing can substitute experience and there
is a considerable amount of research proving that, in terms
of happiness and a sense of wellbeing, spending money on
new experiences is much more profitable. We are living in the
'experience economy' and it was important for us to reflect that
in the new focuses we chose at The Game Fair this year.”
