REVIEW: RANGE ROVER VELAR “I found the Velar to be an exquisite jewel in Land Rover’s crown” As Land Rover celebrates 70 years of manufacture it is undeniable that their expertise in off road vehicles is enjoyed by many people across the globe. 70 years on, we tested their latest edition the Range Rover Velar. The Range Rover Velar sits between the Evoke and Discovery within the current model line up according to price range. However, this does not mean it is second best. Velar is a unique vehicle in its own right and is “The Avant-Garde Range Rover” according to Land Rover and showcases the best that Land Rover has to offer, without spending significantly more for the top of the line Range Rover. Our review vehicle was the HSE D240 2.0L Diesel with an on the road price of £64,160 in the stunning paint colour Byron Blue, which I have to say is the best match for practical use, but also shows off the car extremely well. Durning the review we covered just under 1000 miles and have to say the Velar handled every single mile, on and off the road with complete ease and elegance. On motorway trips the Velar feels extremely solid on the road providing excellent positive feedback through the steering wheel and allowing some road noise within the cabin making the experience a complete pleasure during those long road trips. 20 | The Gentleman Magazine “Powered by Off road you are provided with an abundance of features via the dash control panel, more on that later, and are given a silky ride over the fields and down unmarked lanes. Progressing to more challenging terrain, this is where the Velar and the 70 years of Land Rover really goes that step further to offer a vehicle capable of any situation. Another area which has to be talked about is the practicality of the Velar, with amazing head and leg room for back passengers and adjustable seating all round with the option of 20-way seat adjustment for the driver and front passenger, you are bound to find that “just right” position whilst sat in the extremely comfortable seats. Boot space is also another great factor about the Velar, it’s simply massive and you would have no problem fitting everything you could ever need for a family camping holiday, in fact I think you would still have room to spare. However, this is not just the perfect family car, it is also amazingly versatile. Once the rear seats are folded down you are left with a vast space to haul anything from luggage to sofas and anything in between with ease, it really is the car that keeps on giving. , Security in Motion”
