EDITOR’S LETTER
Ups and downs
2014 started and ended with heavy storms, and what
happened in between was every bit as eventful.
Lanzarote enjoyed a bumper year for tourism, and
the visits of the British Prime Minister, Dr Who, Chris
Hemsworth and a long string of actors, models,
sportsmen and journalists resulted in some fantastic
publicity for the island.
But it was also a year when Spain saw a disgraced
King step aside just in time for his son to see the
national football team fail miserably in Brazil; and on
Lanzarote we saw anti-oil protests that have now
polarized politics on the island - perhaps beyond repair.
With elections, new building projects and millions
more tourists on the horizon, 2015 looks like it will
be every bit as eventful
as the year that has
just gone by, and as
you´ll find out in the
following pages, there
are plenty of reasons
for optimism.
So, a busy and exciting year ahead - but we hope
it´s not so busy that you don´t find a moment to
relax and remember how lucky you are to live on
this perfect, unique island.
We wish all our readers a prosperous and happy
New Year.
