Staff Spotlight: David Louys-Moroney Position Senior Coach, Pod Leader Describe your role at BGGA? To be a transformational leader, not just to the students but also within this great coaching team at BGGA. Sharing ideas and best practices of how we can improve the experience for the students. Design the day-to-day schedule that will enable the students to develop not only their golfing skills but to push them outside their comfort zone which will give the students opportunities to learn, evolve and grow. What’s your favorite part about your job? Traveling to tournaments with the students. You get to know the students outside golf and this helps with building a rapport with the students and them ultimately buying into the program. Defining Excellence “Stephania has had some recent interest from colleges so I think she’s realized her goals could come to fruition. Ever since we’ve been in that situation, the commitment to her training has completely changed. She’s been a lot better at implementing what I’d like her to do and she’s fully committed to it. She’s been defining excellence and I think we’re going to see a difference in her results.” – David Louys-Moroney, BGGA Senior Coach How did you get started in golf? My older brother started which got my parents involved and then the whole family (mum, dad and four boys) were all playing. My mother is the most successful golfer of the family, as she has won her club championship 10 times. Why do you love the game of golf? You learn so many life skills through the game of golf. These life skills help shape and develop your character as a person. What’s the best piece of advice you have ever received? “Be a lifelong learner. Never have the belief that you know everything you need to know about a subject, there is always something new to learn. “ - David Leadbetter What is your favorite home-cooked meal? It has everything: Amazing culture, incredibly grand architecture, diverse scenery, incredible coastline, beautiful people who know how to dress and fantastic food. I like that the course and where we train is here and we don’t have to travel to play golf. Best part of your game: Putting Why do you play golf: I started playing since I have memory. I like to play and get away from my problems.
