the sit-down with MANUEL BERMUDEZ POD Leader/Senior Coach Manual Bermudez has made his mark on the game of golf as a coach. He has coached multiple AJGA Junior Rolex All-Americans, a U.S. Women’s Amateur Publix Champion as well as National Team players for Peru, Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela and Taiwan. His students have gone on to some of the best college programs in the country including Baylor, University of Georgia, Auburn, Oklahoma, University of Arkansas and more. Describe your role at BGGA As a POD Leader and Senior Coach, my main role is to train and prepare a group of 18 students for their next level. Favorite part about your job? Training the students and building their training programs. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? Everything in the universe is moving, so you are either getting better or getting worse. Favorite sport? Golf and Soccer! Favorite home-cooked meal? A good steak on the grill with some type of sea food. What is always stocked in your refrigerator? Protein shakes and milk. 6 THE GATE | NOVEMBER 2018 If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Valencia, Venezuela. It is my home city, but because the of the situation in Venezuela it was better to leave. What movie do you watch and again and again? There are a few. The Patriot and Robin Hood to name a couple. Where is your favorite place to travel and why? Depends! Pretty much anywhere in the Caribbean, and also Madrid as I have a lot of family there. One thing we don’t know about you? I love Bullfighting and a good Flamenco show. The cause I support and why. I support anybody who is willing to work hard to make something happen and who doesn’t take short cuts.
