Staff Spotlight: Josh Burris Position Houseparent Describe your role at BGGA? My role at BGGA is to help implement life skills that our students can take into their golf careers as well as in their journey through life. What’s your favorite part about your job? My favorite part of the job is managing the different relationships while helping to build skills that will carry our students throughout their lifetime. Also, learning the different cultures and norms that our students bring from their countries and how we seek to compliment one with the other. What’s the best piece of advice you have ever received? Only concern yourself with the controllables; the attitude that I approach everything and effort that I put in. What is your favorite home-cooked meal? It’s between seafood gumbo and red beans and rice, fried chicken, and cornbread. What is always stocked in your refrigerator? Milk, for cereal and Oreos. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Brazil has always been the place I tell everyone where I want to settle when it’s all said and done. The change of scenery, culture and experiences are the biggest reasons for wanting to make that move. Is there anything you are addicted to? Or can’t live without? Brownie fudge sundae from Braum’s What movie do you watch again and again? The Wood Where is your favorite place to travel and why? Costa Rica, my second family lives there and they always make my stay memorable. Also, the local people get a rush when I speak Spanish and they want to engage in communication, even with my broken grammar. What’s one thing we don’t know about you? I am a big gamer, PS4 and IT geek. Favorite quote? “Iron sharpens Iron.” & “You don’t have to be great to start but you have to start to be great.” Favorite sport besides golf? Football
