Staff Spotlight: Andrew Summers, CEO Position CEO Describe your role at BGGA? I ensure that our various departments are working to a common vision, operating at the highest standards and working within our financial budgets. What’s your favorite part about your job? Frequently spending time with our clients, our wonderful students and occasionally their parents when they visit. I am inspired by our exceptional peer group of students, who have the courage to leave their home and country, prepared to make enormous sacrifices and then have ambition to achieve greatness! What’s the best piece of advice you have ever received? Always do your best, and if it’s not good enough, be proud that you gave it your all! What is your favorite home-cooked meal? Spaghetti bolognaise, which is all that I know how to cook. Is there anything you are addicted to? Or can’t live without? I can’t live without my little companion Snuffles, who is my inspiration. What movie do you watch again and again? Warm Springs, about FDR polio and how he gained a third dimension to his character through his illness. Where is your favorite place to travel and why? As you might expect, back to my home in Gullane, Scotland, where I have a nice flat and multiple golf course memberships. I love it that many students get to share in this through the IJGT Race to Scotland. What’s one thing we don’t know about you? Hopefully lots of things you don’t know, as I’m a private person. But maybe I should inspire patience by admitting that I studied for ten years, with six different universities/institutes before getting a real paying job at age 29.
