Staff Spotlight:
Andrew Summers, CEO
Position
CEO
Describe your role at BGGA?
I ensure that our various departments are
working to a common vision, operating at
the highest standards and working within our
financial budgets.
What’s your favorite part about your job?
Frequently spending time with our clients,
our wonderful students and occasionally their
parents when they visit. I am inspired by our
exceptional peer group of students, who have
the courage to leave their home and country,
prepared to make enormous sacrifices and
then have ambition to achieve greatness!
What’s the best piece of advice you have
ever received?
Always do your best, and if it’s not good
enough, be proud that you gave it your all!
What is your favorite home-cooked meal?
Spaghetti bolognaise, which is all that I know
how to cook.
Is there anything you are addicted to? Or
can’t live without?
I can’t live without my little companion
Snuffles, who is my inspiration.
What movie do you watch again and again?
Warm Springs, about FDR polio and how he
gained a third dimension to his character
through his illness.
Where is your favorite place to travel and
why?
As you might expect, back to my home in
Gullane, Scotland, where I have a nice flat and
multiple golf course memberships. I love it that
many students get to share in this through the
IJGT Race to Scotland.
What’s one thing we don’t know about you?
Hopefully lots of things you don’t know, as I’m
a private person. But maybe I should inspire
patience by admitting that I studied for ten
years, with six different universities/institutes
before getting a real paying job at age 29.
What is always stocked in your refrigerator?
Liquids
