MESSAGE FROM THE HEADMASTER MONTVERDE ACADEMY February has flown by. College admissions continue to advance and our students are doing very well in earning admission to some of the nation’s most competitive colleges and universities. Athletically, our ladies’ soccer team earned their second straight State Championship! The Theatre Department presented “Into the Woods” to rave reviews, and our conservatory produced an excellent Strings Concert, debuting a work commissioned for MVA. Two Middle School and two Upper School robotics teams earned spots at the State competition. Our Academic Team won the County Academic Team competition and will represent the county at the State Competition. Lastly, our boys’ varsity basketball team has earned an invitation to the GEICO High School Basketball Nationals in New York on April 4-6, where they will attempt to earn a fifth national title. Plans are being finalized on the proposed new middle school facility and will go out for bid in March for review by the Board of Trustees in April. Once approved, we will navigate through the plans review and permitting process and hope to break ground on the middle school building during the 2019-20 school year. In a few short weeks, we will close our third grading period and encouraging our students to finish the grading period strong as we prepare for the home stretch to conclude the semester. Finally, save April 27 for our annual Celebrating Education Gala, a fundraising event for the Montverde Fund. This year will be dedicated to Mr. Warren Delmolino, Dean of our Middle School, long-time employee and friend, who will be retiring at the end of the school year. Mr. Del has dedicated three decades of his career to Montverde Academy, and I have been blessed to have him as my colleague and friend. Please join me in April to celebrate Montverde Academy and Mr. Del! Dr. Kasey C. Kesselring Headmaster 8 THE GATE | MARCH 2019
