BGGA Claims One Win and Five Top Finishes at HJGT Orlando Junior Shootout
At the HJGT Orlando Junior Shootout, Hiroshi Tai won the Boys 14-15 Division and five other students claimed top-3 finishes on Sunday, March 5 at Timacuan Golf & Country Club in Orlando, Fla.
Tai took the top spot on the leaderboard with a first-round 75 and held onto the win with a secondround 79. Tai’ s 10-over 154 finish was seven strokes better than BGGA’ s Egor Zotov in second place.
In the Boys 11-13 Division, John Daly II finished in second place, six shots behind the leader. Daly’ s 7-over 151 consisted of rounds of 76 and 75. Daly has finished second or better in all his starts so far in 2017.
Kim Kang also finished second but in the Boys 16-18 Division. Kang shot 6-over 150 = 70-80, just four shots behind the winner.
In the Girls 14-18 Division, two BGGA students, Anika Veintemilla and Maria Beatriz Arizuga, shared third place at 10-over 154 in the Girls 14-18 Division. Veintemilla had rounds of 75 and 79, while Arizaga shot 76 and 78, only two shots behind the winner.
Overall, 13 BGGA students competed in the event and battled the windy conditions.
