2018 FALL SEASON CLOSE TO ANOTHER CLEAN SWEEP FOR BGGA AT THE FALDO U.S. GRAND FINAL Close to another clean sweep for BGGA of the four age divisions at the Faldo U.S. Grand Final, with Petr Hruby winning the older boys division with a final total of -12 and a remarkable round of -8 on the final day for a come from behind victory. Jack Turner won in the younger boys division with a final score of -3, and Anne Yu won the older girls division at -8. Yoko Tai placed second in the younger girls with a score of -2. BGGA had 16 students place in the Top-Ten. First place finishers in their division win an all-expenses paid trip to play in the Faldo Asian Grand Final The 2nd Annual Faldo Series U.S. Grand Final concluded in fantastic fashion over the weekend at Bella Collina Golf Club in sunny Central Florida. The Sir Nick Faldo design course was the perfect 10 THE GATE | JANUARY 2019 destination for some of the game’s best junior golfers, with players representing 22 different countries and 15 different American states. In the most competitive division of the weekend, the Boys Under 19 Division was highly contested with 9 players finishing their weekend under Par and a stellar comeback to earn the first-place finish. BGGA student Petr Hruby stormed back Sunday firing a low-round total of 64 to secure top honors as division champion. Hruby, who hails from Pilsen, Czech Republic, capped off his amazing comeback climbing 5-spots on the leaderboard Sunday afternoon. Hruby’s 64 on Sunday goes with his 74 and 66 from the prior two rounds to finish the weekend at 12-under Par. Hruby has signed his letter-of-intent to play college golf at the University of Washington. For the Girls Under 19 Division, BGGA’s Anne Yu stands alone as division champion after a solid weekend at Bella Collina. Yu ended the weekend at 8-under Par after 3-consecutive rounds under Par on the Sir Nick Faldo design course. Another stellar performance and worthy champion from an amazing weekend at Bella Collina, BGGA’s Jack Turner took home the top honors in the Boys Under 16 Division. A native of Saunderstown, RI, Turner went wire-to-wire for the division championship, finishing the weekend at 3-under Par and a total of 213.
