It is no wonder that Rutgers University made the
enormously talented rising senior such a high
priority in their recruiting efforts, where BGGA’s
Marcoux verbally committed as a junior.
Marcoux, who is a top-70 recruit according to
GolfWeek, qualified for the 2018 Massachusetts
Amateur Championship over the summer. Marcoux
finished first at the 2017 IJGT Kings Classic in Orange
Lake, Florida, produced a 71-69-68 to place second at
the 2018 AJGA Rome Junior Classic and placed third
at the 2018 Liberty National Junior Invitational.
Other top performances for Marcoux include
seventh-place results at the 2018 Massachusetts
Junior Amateur and 2017 AJGA Junior Open and
eighth-place results at the 2018 AJAG Killington Junior
Golf Championship and 2017 Massachusetts Junior
Amateur. A lefty, Marcoux finished 2017 with a 74.13
scoring average.
“Xavier had a lot of other opportunities but saw
the vision we had here and wants to be a part
of that,” said Rutgers men’s golf head coach Rob
Shutte. “As far as his game is concerned, he works
extremely hard on his play and it’s great to have
another southpaw in the program. There are not a

Outside of class and golf, Xavier has been
commended for his outstanding service work,
particularly with the Alzheimer’s USA Association, for
which he raised over a thousand dollars during his
junior year. Xavier received High Honor Roll awards
at Montverde Academy and was recognized as BGGA
Student of Year in 2017 for his help and support of
others, for demonstrating the highest of personal
integrity, moral and ethical character and for being a
strong leader.
Positively impacting lives through service to the
community is one of BGGA’s key values. It happens
everyday as BGGA student-athletes like Xavier are
serving and mentoring while they are learning and
training.
PETER HRUBY-
UNIVERSITY OF
WASHINGTON (DI)
Petr Hruby committed to play college golf for the
University of Washington in 2019.
“Petr will have an instant impact and make us a better
team,” said Washington head coach Alan Murray. “I
know he will push and be pushed by our returners
immediately. We are starting to turn a corner and I
believe our future will be bright with the addition of
Petr.”
Hruby, from the Czech Republic, claimed the individual
crown at the 2017 Publix Junior Golf Classic in dramatic
fashion, taking the victory in a sudden-death playoff.
He also finished second at the Czech International Boys
and Juniors Championship in July of 2018 while posting
a 13th-place finish at the Slovakian Men’s Amateur
Championship in June of 2018.
