Defining Excellence
Xavier Marcoux
From: Lexington, Massachusetts
Grade: 10th grade
Started at BGGA: August 2016
Why did you choose BGGA: I needed somewhere I knew I
could develop and in Boston in the snow I wasn’t able to do
that, so I came down here.
Best part of your game: Ballstriking
Why do you play golf: I love hitting the balls and the feel of
that.
Goals for the future: I’d like to play Division I college golf and
then go on to play professional golf.
If you could win any tournament… The Masters
Favorite Golfer: Jordan Spieth
Three fun facts about yourself: I was born in Canada. I played
hockey growing up. I can do a pretty good owl call.
Xavier’s coaches talk about why he defines excellence.
Jonathan Yarwood: “He defines excellence because he’s
always prepared and he doesn’t waste a day. He’s always on
the ball every day. He has a plan, follows instruction really well
and he’s an exemplary student.”
Nick Duffy: “Whenever Xavier comes out to practice he’s
already ready and has a plan in his mind. You don’t have to
tell him what the plan for the day is because he’s already
looked it up. He already has the idea of what he wants to
work on. He exemplifies a growth mindset. He’s very good
when it comes to practicing and being ready to play golf.”
