The environmental impact of plastic pollution in oceans is very prominent worldwide. The plastics that pollute the ocean have countless detrimental effects to the environment and the wildlife whose habitat is contaminated. Plastic pollution has a significant impact on the world oceans and therefore the environment. The scale of contamination of the marine environment by plastic debris is very vast and harmful. It is found floating in all the world’s oceans, everywhere from the equator to the poles. The seabed, especially near to coastal regions, is also contaminated, mostly with with plastic bags. These environmental impacts stem from marine life that is physically harmed through ingestion or entanglement, of when marine debris physically alter a sensitive ecosystem. These are examples of direct impacts on the environment,
but there are
more impact
that are
indirect,
such as
when
marine
debris
cleanup
results
in ecological
changes.
