All of the issues above being fixed would go a long way to helping the image of our beloved industry as a whole. Summary So what does this leave us with? Well frankly, it leaves us with an industry that I am unsure why anyone on the outside would want to be part of, even hardcore female gamers. Are women going to change people being shot in the face being our main interactivity with most game worlds? I doubt it. Is a female voice in the industry going to help change job security? Not singlehandedly. Are the fairer sex going to cause a mass exodus in console development and market saturation? Unlikely. What about change hardcore and casual developers’ ideas on how to distribute and sell their games? Nope. without exploring the fact that the lack of imagination in an industry built on creativity is shockingly low considering the amount of re-skinned, repackaged products available. So next time a game doesn’t have a female character, maybe you should look at how much DLC they want to sell you before commenting about how ‘unfair’ it is. How about next time a caucasian male is given a job at a popular enthusiast press outlet, we think maybe that person will write some really informative pieces on how the industry is destroying itself and help bring attention to issues of real importance, not judge him by his colour or gender. Maybe we could think about how to help our beloved pastime, not how to make small pathetic arguments blow up into pointless debates. Maybe, just maybe. I will say that it may greatly help the perception of ‘boys with toys’ but, as explained above, this needs more than one change to alter it.
