This means that being a game developer is a tough choice as a lot of the time the job security is minimal. This is something the industry as a whole needs to look at and try to change before the boom we’re currently seeing starts to subside as we see talented people move to other industries with better job security. We’re an industry where innovation, creativity and dedication can be rewarded with praise and funding by the very audience that will eventually enjoy the product. That’s great but what happens to a flooded market? Well if you look back at 1983 in North America you’ll find out. Things crash, people lose jobs, developers close down and only the big boys survive. We’ve seen an influx of smallform consoles crowdfunded or developed by larger hardware companies. This is one of the major factors cited for the Videogame Crash of 1983.
