Assassin Creed Protagonist Bios
Desmond discovered that Abstergo
was actually a front for the modernday Templars, arch rivals of the
Assassins.
After escaping Abstergo with the
help of an undercover Assassin
named Lucy Stillman, he
was led to a safehouse.
There, using the improved
Animus
2.0,
Desmond
entered the memories of
Ezio - an Assassin from
the Renaissance time
period. Ezio’s memories
eventually led to the
discovery of a secret
chamber beneath the
Sistine Chapel where
he encountered a
hologram of Minerva,
who explained that
she was from an
advanced civilisation
that had been wiped out
by a solar flare. The hologram
spoke directly to Desmond,
using Ezio as a conduit for the
message, and warned of an
impending catastrophe that
could destroy all life on Earth.
After relocating to the sanctuary
beneath the Villa Auditore in
Monteriggioni, Desmond
returned to the Animus,
using Ezio’s memories
once again to discover
the location of his Piece
of Eden, learning that it is in a
Assassin’s Creed Special Edition 2013
vault beneath the Colosseum. Thanks to
a phenomenon known as the ‘Bleeding
Effect’, Desmond had begun to inherit
skills from his ancestors, and used these
abilities to gain entry to the vault. Upon
entering the vault, the Apple of Eden
allowed a goddess named Juno
to take control of Desmond
and forced him to stab Lucy,
at which point he passed out
and entered a coma.
Desmond
regained
consciousness in the
Grand Temple beneath
New York, where his team
- alongside Desmond’s
father, William Miles
- were trying to find a
device that would prevent
a devastating solar flare. He
returned to the Animus, this
time to Ratonhnhaké:ton,
a Native American Assassin
whose
memories
led
Desmond to a medallion. Using
the medallion to unlock a sanctum
within the Central Vault, he found
that he had been misguided; using
the device would prevent the
cataclysmic event, but would also
kill Desmond and release Juno, a
member of the First Civilization
who had been imprisoned in
the Vault due to her hatred of
mankind. Despite this, he chose
sacrifice himself and activated
the device, believing that
humanity would stand a better
chance of defeating Juno.
