NIGHT SPECTACLE
McLaren does a few laps
under the floodlights at BIC
fascinating weekend of motorsport and entertainment, highlighted by the first-ever Formula
One night race in the Kingdom of Bahrain,
awaits fans this April 4-5-6.
The 2014 Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand
Prix marks the landmark 10th anniversary of Bahrain
International Circuit and of the Formula One race being held at “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle
East”.
To celebrate this special occasion, the 57-lap
sprint will be held for the very first time under
floodlights.
It is the third of 19 rounds in the 2014 FIA Formula One World Championship, and it is scheduled
for a 6pm start, offering the thousands of race fans
at the circuit and the millions more watching live
from all over the world an experience like never seen
before.
“The night race will bring an all-new element
to an already brilliant racing spectacle,” BIC Chief
Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa said.
“It is going to be a wonderful event; our preparations are going on as scheduled and we are extremely excited to be celebrating this landmark occasion
of our 10th Grand Prix with the whole Formula One
family and the Bahraini community.”
BIC has undertaken major upgrades to the
Sakhir facility over the past year. This includes the installation of a new permanent lighting system, which
