Any funny stories from your time on the gate? Not many that you can put in here! Most folk will know that Mark Whyte has written his name into club folklore on and off the pitch so I shouldn’t be surprised that his laddie, Kai, is a chip off the old block. He was coming into the game a few weeks back and I decided that I would just wave him in. What I didn’t see was that he had a pile of his pals with him and before I could say a word about 6 of them were through the door!! Your boy followed in your footsteps and played for the Rose – what’s your best memory of watching him? I was very proud when Alan signed for Linlithgow and his finest moment was when he scored the winning goal for us in a Junior Cup tie against Irvine Meadow. We took a bit of a pounding that day but came away with a 1 – 0 win thanks to him. He also scored the winning penalty when we knocked Bo’ness out the Junior Cup a few years back – that runs the Irvine Meadow goal a very close second. My younger boy, Colin, almost let the family down when he signed for Bo’ness but fortunately Falkirk came along and signed him before he could kick a ball in anger for them! Who’s the best player you played with or against? Colin Grant – no question. We were lucky to have him at all. Colin was a Bo’ness boy who happened to be at the ground when the Rose were about to play a Sunday friendly against a team from Torphichen. We were short of players and one of his mates shouted across that Colin could maybe fill a jersey for us. We couldn’t get him signed quickly enough after the game and it was no surprise that he did so well in the game as he was a fantastic player. Who’s got the best hospitality when you go away from home? It’s unfair to try and pick out anyone – every club does their best to look after the opposition but I’ll give a special mention to the committee at Shotts in the second leg of the Junior Cup semi final last season – they were tremendous hosts to us.
