The Front Bottoms - Tour Diaries Sept-Oct 2013 | Page 18

Saturday 5th October - Thun, Switzerland (Mokka Cafe) It took a brutal 12 hour drive to get to the next show, most of which Adam did. I stayed up front and we decided to see how many full length records we could get through before we got to the venue. We listened to the following records: Pennywise "Full Circle", The Flatliners "Cavalcade" & "Dead Language", The Lawrence Arms "Apathy & Exhaustion", The Bouncing Souls "How I Spent My Summer Vacation", Against Me! "Reinventing Axl Rose", Paint It Black "CVA", The Menzingers "On The Impossible Past", Iron Chic "Not Like This", New Found Glory "Sticks & Stones", The Smith Street Band "Sunshine & Technology", Luther "Let's Get You Somewhere Else", Alkaline Trio "From Here To Infirmary", Hot Water Music "Remedy", The Bronx "IV" and NOFX "Punk In Drublic". 17 records later, and various threats of "if there's anything wrong with this show I'm going to kill everyone in Switzerland", "when I get home I'm going to murder Ed Sellers" and "when we get to the hotel I'm gonna wank myself to death" from Adam, we finally arrived at a mountain town named Thun. The venue itself was a crazy cafe full of various trinkets and treasures the obviously insane owner had collected over the years: a raptor outside the front of the venue, a Spider-Man which had to be moved from the stage and a stuffed fox which sat peacefully (dead) on top of a small piano. After soundcheck we feasted on mouldy bread, severely oily lukewarm zucchini and burnt pasta. I know I sound like a diva, but after a 12 hour drive I was grouchy and hungry. It was a super weird show; there was no-one there who had any idea who the band was. Becka jumped on Merch and I helped Adam pack down the stage. She made tons of tips which she spent on shots for all of us. We loaded out super quickly and went back to the hotel. We showered had a beer each and went to sleep. I had a dream about tea.
