Summer

FESTIVALS

By Tony Leggio
Summertime is the ideal time to visit the Crescent City . The heat index may rise , but so do the number of festivals , events and seasonal activities that are uniquely New Orleans . Summer also brings some scrumptious delicacies made with Creole tomatoes and Vidalia onions , in season this time of the year . I would also be remiss to not mention that the city has sno-balls which are life savers on a humid day . These fabulously delicious frozen concoctions come in assorted flavors with various toppings , even stuffed with soft serve ice cream in the middle . It truly is like a frozen taste of heaven .
The Big Easy is the perfect vacation spot to “ let the good times roll .” Whether you are planning an outing with your family ( we have many kidfriendly activities ), party weekend with friends or extending some time while visiting for business , our city has so many exciting happenings in these three months . Our culinary scene is incredible , and in June we have several events that showcase its splendor and diversity . The New Orleans Food and Wine Experience celebrates its 30th anniversary June 7 – 12 . The festival is considered one of the most renowned culinary events in the nation , attracting gourmands and connoisseurs . From their grand tastings to special events such as burlesque and drag shows , there is something for everyone to enjoy . www . nowfe . com
