A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR

Cheers to the Season

When the temperature begins to cool and holiday lights start lining the Vieux Carré , the feeling in the air is the most noticeable change . The holiday spirit is all around us ! It ’ s the spirit that flows from reverent choir groups in St . Louis Cathedral , carolers in Jackson Square , shoppers at the French Market , to Revillion dining at many of the French Quarter ’ s fabulous restaurants . As the Mardi Gras season kicks in , you will see beads thrown from balconies , people dressed in outrageous costumes , and music flowing from every street corner and bar .
In New Orleans , traditions are as thick as roux . As the holidays usher in a season of hectic races to the best bargains for the rest of the world , the French Quarter brings out the best in all of us ! Good morning greetings become longer than “ How are you ?” and lead to real conversations between locals and tourists .
The season takes over New Orleans with holiday events , each one leading into another . From Christmas and New Year ’ s to Mardi Gras , the holidays fill our eyes , our ears , and our hearts with joy and happiness . Take all the regular beauties associated with New Orleans and the French Quarter , add a dash of holiday cheer , Christmas caroling , New Year ’ s fireworks on the Mississippi combined with the seasonal fun of Mardi Gras , and you ’ ll have the time of your life , in the nation ’ s most memorable city .
